Raylan Givens is a deputy U.S. Marshal. He wears his badge like he wears his hat and his gun: with purpose. He's soft-spoken — laconic, even — until he draws his weapon.

Raylan is originally from Harlan, Ky., and has the quiet drawl to prove it. After more than a decade away from home, he's been reassigned to eastern Kentucky.

He's not entirely happy about it.

[[ physical characteristics : Raylan is six feet tall and bulletproof, with dark hair and brown eyes. He cuts a lean figure in his jeans, button-down, tie and jacket, and is hardly ever without his omnipresent Stetson. When deep in thought, he'll often touch the silver horseshoe ring he wears on his right hand.

Raylan is always armed.

Unless he isn't.
